Tune-Up 2014 #PVGP

The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, Sponsored by the Greater Pittsburgh Automobile Dealers Foundation packs a dozen events into 10 days. The links below will give you just a flavor of what has become PVGP Race Week.

Blacktie & Tailpipes Gala

Friday, July 7 – The Pittsburgh Field Club – 6:30 pm – 11:00 pm

The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix will host our annual blacktie party benefiting the PVGP charities. A must for any auto enthusiast. Tickets $250 each.

Racer Test & Tune at Pitt-Race Complex

Thursday, July 6

Our vintage race drivers get a chance to tune their racers and practice on the track for the races that weekend. There is also a Driver’s School for aspiring vintage racers. Free to the viewing public.

PVGP Historics at Pitt-Race Complex

Weekend July 7-9 – 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

The PVGP Historic Race Weekend will be held at the newly expanded Pittsburgh International Race Complex and presents a variety of vintage (pre 1960) and historic (after 1960) racing along with related activities in Beaver Falls, PA. Watch the races and take a spin on the Kart track – proceeds benefit our charities. $15 per day or $25 for the weekend, kids under 12 are free.

Invitational Car Show on Walnut Street

Monday July 10 – 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Nestled on Shadyside’s charming Walnut Street view rare, classic and exotic cars – a sampling of what is to come on the weekend at Schenley Park. Show cars by invitation, free to spectators.

Waterfront Car Cruise

Tuesday July 11 – 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Join us and see over 500 cars of all marques. $5 donation to our charities is requested.

Downtown Parade & Car Display

Wednesday July 12 – 10:30 – 2:00 pm

100 Race and show cars will thunder through downtown Pittsburgh on their way to car displays at the U.S. Steel Tower, PPG Place, Market Square and Point State Park.

Grand Prix Tune-Up  @ Atria’s

Wednesday July 12 – 6:00 pm– 9:00 pm

A special happy hour downtown with a new location – Atria’s at PNC Park and a car show on the Clemente Bridge! Live entertainment and silent auction. $40 per person at the door includes appetizers and one complimentary cocktail.

Countryside Tour

Thursday July 13 – 10:00 am– 3:00 pm

The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix hosts a Countryside Tour as part of its race week events and you’re invited to tour in your vintage car (1983 and older). The Coventry Inn hosts a lunch in downtown Indiana.

Jet Center Party

Thursday July 13 – 6:00 am– 11:00 pm

To celebrate our 35th anniversary we’re throwing a party…a big party at the Voyager Jet Center! The Voyager Jet Center is located at the Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin. The event will feature a display of exclusive cars and airplanes and will have a national band performing.

Forbes Avenue of Speed – Race Car Parade & Car Show

Friday July 14 – 6:35 pm– 9:00 pm

We are thrilled to announce that return of our  “Forbes Avenue of Speed” Parade and Car Show in nearby Squirrel Hill where the race cars will park on both sides of Forbes Avenue for a show and the drivers will visit Orr’s Jewelers for a private reception.

Schenley Park Car Shows and Race Qualifying

Saturday, July 15

International Car Shows & British Car Day – 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Come see classic, antique, and exotic vehicles including British, American, German, Asian and Italian cars on the golf course. Watch 150 vintage racers compete on the track all day to quality for Sunday’s featured races. $35 per car in the Car Show.

Vintage Race Practice and Qualifying Heats – 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

6:30 AM to 2:00 PM – Driver/Crew Worker Registration 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM – Technical Inspections 8:15 AM – 5:00 PM cars on track.  Vintage Lap Experience  noon – 1:00 PM e.

Our 10-day event closes with a bang as we continue with our races and car shows all day long. 8:15 AM to 10:15 AM Warm-up & Practice Laps 11:00 AM to noon Opening Ceremonies, Parade laps by Camaro Marque and Patron Parkers 12:00 to 5:00 PM Vintage Races 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM International Car Show on the golf course
