On the first Wednesday of every month, the Hofbräuhaus in Pittsburgh holds a special event to tap a new keg of beer. On Wednesday, June 5, 2019, the keg for the upcoming PVGP will be tapped – the beer that will fuel the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix! Please join us that day for a ceremonial keg tapping parade and free beer sample starting at 7:00 pm. There will be several tables reserved for us at the front of the room starting at 6:00 in case you want to come early and have dinner. We usually have 50 -75 PVGP supporters in attendance – it’s a great time!

PVGP Keg Tappers

This will be the sixth year for the ceremony where a PVGP volunteer ceremoniously taps the wooden beer keg. In 2015 longtime volunteer John Kerr was selected, in 2016 it was Car Show Chairman Bob Speer, and in 2017 Paul MacIntyre, a volunteer since 1984 did the honors. Last year, Don Privett was selected – he runs Vendor Village, the Waterfront Car Cruise, and just about everything else. In 2019 Cathy Dernorsek did the honors – Cathy is the embodiment of the PVGP volunteers – dedicated, thorough and always smiling!

It wouldn’t be a Grand Prix event without cars – sports cars will be on display in front of the Hofbräuhaus on the South Side. Contact Dan DelBianco if you are interested in displaying your car – there is limited space. With Corvette as our Marque of the Year, we are expecting a large contingent of Bavarian fans and hoping for some special bimmers!

Hofbräuhaus is the Official Bier of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and the new pilsner will be served at many of our Race Week functions. The Pilsner is brewed on the premises in the restaurant’s onsite microbrewery by brewmaster Shawn Setzenfand and his crew.

The Hofbräuhaus Pittsburgh is a place where family and friends can enjoy great beer, great food, and fun times every day.  It starts with a wide selection of traditional beer brewed on-site daily…with flavorful seasonal selections every month.

Next, an award-winning menu with something for everybody…whether they’re in the mood for traditional German food or an American classic.  All wrapped up in a vibrant environment modeled after the legendary 400+-year-old Hofbräuhaus in Munich, Germany — with authentically decorated rooms, live music, and Pittsburgh’s most scenic outdoor dining space.   Hofbräuhaus Pittsburgh…This Place Is Wunderbar!
