PVGP HISTORICS – GENERAL INFORMATION AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

Event Location

Pittsburgh International Race Complex AKA: Pitt Race or PIRC  Directions Take PA Turnpike Exit 13, take Route 18 North 3 miles, left on Penndale Road. Track is 2 miles at top of hill.

Entry Confirmation:

We do not notify you if you are accepted. If your entry is rejected or in question you can expect to be notified asap. If you are accepted you will see your entry posted online by race group beginning in June.

Refund Policy:

Your race entry will be fully refunded if you notify Event Chairman or registrar before your tires hit the track on Friday morning. If your car breaks during Test & Tune your weekend entry fee will be refunded.

 

2018 GENERAL SCHEDULE, REGISTRATION & TECH

Track gates open:

You can enter the facility after 3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 4. Gates close at 10:00 PM – No Exceptions as this is a holiday.

On Thursday, July 5 gates are open daily from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. There is a security guard making rounds after 10:00 pm, who can let you in or out if you are camping. Security guard cell phone is 724-350-4273.

Registration

Registration has been relocated to the new trackside timing tower.  Contact registrar Donna McDonough with any questions

Wednesday 6:00 pm  – 8:00 pm  for Test & Tune and Drivers School only
Thursday 7:00 am – noon for Test & Tune and Drivers School only
3:00 pm – 8:00 pm all competitors
Friday 7:00 am – Noon
Saturday 7:00 am – 9:00 am

Tech hours and location:

Roving tech on Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Friday from 7:15 am 4:00 pm.  Saturday as needed. Cars DO NOT need to be tech’ed for the Test & Tune Day on Thursday.

ON TRACK ACTIVITIES

Special Feature:

We are hosting special groups for the weekend (Please look close at your schedule  as you may be running in several groups for all of the special races we are doing this year).

Optional Test Day:

YES – Thursday, July 5. This is not included in your race entry. Full day – $225, half day – $150. You must be a PVGP competitor to participate. Details

Spectator event:

YES, tickets only available at gate, $20 for one day, $30 for weekend.

Tires

Royale Race Tires will be at Pitt Race Complex for all your race tire needs at the PVGP Historics on July 6-8. They primarily sell Hoosier, however Royale Race Tires can provide other brands as needed including trailer tires (ie ..   Toyo, Yokohama, etc…) .  Please go to the www site and fill out the Pre-Order form or call 484 962-0286 / email your inquiries.  It is critical to have your orders in place by June 27 to ensure the tire sizes and quantities you need at the track will be present.  Anyone who has placed a Hoosier/Toyo order with SASCO, please note they WILL NOT be on-site so your order needs to be placed with Royale Race Tires if you want it at track. A portion of all tires sales will benefit the PVGP Charity Partners.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Drivers Reception:

Free driver reception for drivers and their crew at Pitt Race Conference Center. 6:00 pm- 7:30 pm Friday night.

Kart Rentals: YES

Available at the Kart track office. Open for adults and kids on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can get on the track yourself – take a spin on the Wilson karting track where you can reach speeds of 45 MPH! Both the red Birel Rock Karts as well as the black Junior Rental Karts will be available to accommodate most drivers eight years old and up. PIRC will donate a percentage of the proceeds to the Grand Prix charities. The kart, gas and all safety equipment are all included. No flip-flops or sandals permitted and children must be 10 or older. Call 724.535.1000 for Get Details.

Saturday Dinner: Yes

Saturday night at 6.00 pm in tent beside the garages for all.  Racer entry includes meals for driver and two crew member.  For additional dinners, please make a donation (recommended $20 per person) at the entrance.  – see signs on donation bucket.  Donation receiveral groups for all of the special races we are doing this year).

Charity Rides

Track touring, charity rides, worker rides: Candy’s Charity Rides Saturday & Sunday during lunch, please bring your car – this makes lots of extra money for the charity!

SPECIAL CAR REQUIREMENTS

Sound Restrictions: Yes

100 dBA, measured 50′ from track edge (most unmuffled cars are OK); quiet hours 8:00 PM Thursday to 8:00 AM Friday.  Friday 8:00 PM to Saturday 8:00 AM and Saturday 8:00 PM to 9:00 AM Sunday.

Antifreeze permitted: No

Transponder Required: Yes

Yes Cars without transponders will be gridded by Timing & Scoring and will start in back.  No transponder rentals available – sorry.

CREW REQUIREMENTS

Crew passes:

Two crew included, along with driver with each race entry. Crew must check in on Thursday or Friday  and receive wrist band for entry. If crew member does not have wrist band they will be charged $15 per day at gate – please honor this rule as we are raising money for charity. Additional crew members are $20 for the entire 4-day event and include dinner Friday and Saturday. Please adhere to this rule, our volunteers at the gate are instructed to charge all entrants without wrist bands. All participants must sign track waiver on first entry to the facility.

Spectator event:

YES, tickets only available at gate, $15 for one day, $25 for weekend.

Donations

The following are the suggested donations for participating in the PVGP Historic Races. Your donation is tax deductible. Any additional donation to the PVGP is appreciated and is tax deductible as well. Please print a copy of your registration as an acknowledgement of your contribution to the PVGP.

  • Earlybird Discount Posted by June 1: $500
  • Regular Entry Posted after June 1: $550
  • 2nd Car/Same Driver Additional flat fee: $200
  • Thursday Test & Tune Full Day: $225 Half Day: $150
  • Kastner Cup: $35
  • Saturday Party/Dinner is free for drivers and one crew member. Additional crew is $20 each.

    PADDOCK

    Special paddock areas

    Lots of new paddock areas with pavement and hard pack! Please note that there are reserved paddocks when entering track. Electrical is available for some paddock spots, please contact track to reserve an pay.

    Garages:

    Garage Rental $325 holds one large car or two very small carsSaturday

    Trailer Storage:

    If you are racing the following weekend at Schenley Park and want to leave your trailer at PIRC – the PVGP will cover your cost. All you need to do is visit the Karting building during the race weekend and sign a Trailer Storage Agreement. Please note- you are not at Schenley have been expanded so if you would like to participate on both weekends see if you are eligible: Qualified Cars for Schenley Park.

    Race fuel, air, water:

    Sunoco race fuel, leaded & unleaded, various octanes, self-service pumps 24 hours with credit card, or pay cash at office. Compressed air & water in Event Center area.
