Fifty years ago, an American icon was born when the very first 1967 Camaro was sold. To commemorate this momentous occasion as well as to honor Camaro’s illustrious past, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is proud to announce that Camaro will be our Marque of the Year for 2017.
“Through the course of its iconic 50-year history, Camaro has been a reflection of the times, forging in passionate influences from customers, development teams and racing technology,” said Tom Peters, director of exterior design, Chevrolet Performance Cars.
“Camaro fans share a lot of creative passion for the car — passion for performance and for styling — that was passed along in every generation,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. “Camaro’s 50th birthday reminds us of Chevy’s history of ingenuity and design excellence. Visit www.CamaroFifty.com for more details on Chevrolet’s plans for 2017.
The iconic 1967 Camaro will be featured on our 2017 poster. The artwork has been created by Pittsburgh artist Jim Zahnister.
According to PVGP Executive Director Dan DelBianco “we selected Jim after seeing his series of Pittsburgh travel posters. We were impressed with his wonderful design sense, his detailed line technique, and use of colorful shapes. Jim’s sixties style is a perfect match for the 1967 Camaro illustrated on the poster. The background features the City of Pittsburgh”.
Posters will be available for purchase in the spring of 2017.
On-line registration is now closed – please pay as you enter Schenley Park on Saturday
