{acbmw} The Allegheny Chapter of the BMW Club is hard at work planning a show to follow-up on their record-setting success of the 2009 Marque of the Year. Together with the Pittsburgh BMW dealers and the support of nearly 250 BMW owners the club raised $75,000 for the Grand Prix charities! Many believe that the BMW tent is the best place to watch the races as they sprint up the hill into the sharp turn #13. You don't have to be a member of the Club to take part in the car show, but if you own a BMW you'll find that they have plenty to offer.

The week-long schedule of events that the club had in 2009 were such a success that plans are to keep many of the events for 2010. Here is a list of events planned for July 2010:

2010 Schedule for BMW
- BeaveRun German Corral July 18 and 19 weekend
- Schenley Park BMW Compound July 24/25 - $55 per person for weekend or $40 per person per day
- Concours at Schenley Park on Sunday July 25 - $25 per car
- Driving tour and lunch at Penn Alps Friday July 23  - $25 per person

CONCOURS d'ELEGANCE
July 25, 2010

{bmw tent}   {bmw}    {BMW}

On Sunday, July 25, the Allegheny Chapter will be hosting a Concours d'Elegance in which BMW's of similar vintage and type will be judged upon the cleanliness, condition, originality and presentation of all parts concerned. We will have a special gift for the first 20 concours participants.

Participants in the Concours may enter one of the below Divisions:

Bayrischer Fahrer Division (Identical to BMW CCA Clean Class)

- Exterior and Interior judged

Münchener Eleganz Division (Identical to BMW CCA Super Clean Class)

- Exterior, interior, engine and trunk will be judged

Both original and modified cars may compete in the Bayrischer Fahren and Münchener Eleganz Divisions.

Each Division will be broken down into classes based upon vehicle age and type.
We will determine individual classes at a time closer to the event based upon actual entries received.

In the concours, judges will be looking at the condition, fit, cleanliness and appearance of the specific parts judged. If Exterior is to be judged, the components to be judged include body panels, paint, windows, tires, wheels, bumpers and chrome. If the interior is to be judged, the components to be judged include the dash panel, steering wheel, seats, carpeting, door and kick panels, headliner or soft top and seals. In the Bayrischer Fahren class, only exterior and interior will be judged. In Münchener Eleganz the judges will also look at the engine compartment and trunk.  In the engine compartment, the judges may review the block and accessories, firewall, hood liner, splash panels, hoses, radiator and other underhood components. In the trunk, the judges may look at the spare tire, tire well, jack, trunk liner, tool kit and internal panels.

Since we want to make this event as interesting as possible for both participants and spectators, in all divisions, entrants may be asked to demonstrate that electrical and mechanical accessories function and are in good working order. Examples of items to be demonstrated are exterior and interior lights, turn signals, semaphores, horns, electric window lifts, radios, and other electrical components. (Note: windshield wipers will not be demonstrated).

A registration form is available HERE. You may also email this information to Bill Permar.  Unfortunately, due to space constraints, we will need to limit the concours to 35 entrants. Questions concerning car classification and applicable concours rules, please contact Chief Judge Bob Gelfand or call 412.367.1921.

Hospitality
Racers love coming to this event due to the wonderful reception they receive. The Allegheny Chapter and the local Mini Club are once again co-hosting a German Car Corral and invite all BMW race drivers and crew to join them for lunch - the stories and friendship shared last year were great. The race entry fee will entitle you to lunch for driver and one crew member both Saturday and Sunday. Additional lunches will be available for $15 a piece. At the suggestion of some of those who attended last year, we hope to collect a brief biography (name, car number, hometown, and an interesting detail or two) from each driver along with a driver and/or car photo. We would like to print flyers with this information so the BMW fans can cheer on their favorites. The host hotel for this event is the Cranberry Marriott. Information is available here. The Marriott Pittsburgh North, only 15 miles from the track. Call 724-772-3400 for reservations.
Online Registration for the German Car Corral is CLOSED. The BMW Club will provide on-site lunch registration until the food runs out. Parking is still available in the car corral. Please contact Eric Zagrocki of the BMW Club with any questions.
We hope you will consider joining us this year and supporting this fine cause. If you have any questions, please feel free to call (before 9:00 pm, please) or email.

See you at the races,
