Corvettes Named as 2010 Spotlight Car in Honor of Donna Mae Mims

Race Week will be filled with activities for Corvette fans to see their favorite's and opportunities for owners to display their cars and pay tribute to Donna Mae.
 

Corvette Spotlight Car Show - July 24/25

The cost is only $25 for a full weekend display of your Corvette in the Spotlight display at Schenley Park (sorry - no single day discounts). There is a optional $10 donation to participate in a Sunday July 25 parade lap on the race track.
 
Corvettes will be parked in the traditional Marque of the Year fairway, where they were as marque back in 2003.
 
There is a special Corvette T-Shirt being designed by the Western PA Corvette Club Council. It is available when you sign-up on-line for $15. You can select your size and the shirts will be waiting for you at Schenley Park. See design at right.

In memory of longtime volunteer Donna Mae Mims, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix will feature Corvettes
as the 2010 Spotlight Car. See Tribute to Donna Mae Mims  The Spotlight Car is featured over an entire fairway at the Schenley Park Golf Course. Donna Mae raced Corvettes, in addition to many other cars and owned a pink 1979 Corvette. Her love of Corvettes brought her to be involved in Corvette Club of Western PA, Steel Town Corvette Club and the Three Rivers Corvette Club.  All Corvette Clubs and Corvette owners are invited to take part in this car show and take a lap of the track in her honor! 2010 Schedule of Events for Spotlight Corvettes
{Rallye vettes} Kick-Off Rallye - Sunday July 11
Compete in your Corvette through the streets of Pittsburgh. It's like a scavenger hunt on wheels! There will be a special award category for those competing in Corvettes.
$60 entry for driver and navigator includes meal Details
 
{blktie} Cocktails & Tailpipes at Pittsburgh Golf Club - Friday July 16
This blacktie optional event kicks off our Race Week at the beautiful Pittsburgh Golf Club in Schenley Park. Anybody that attends in a Corvette will be parked in a special area in front of the clubhouse. This is a great evening complete with luxurious food stations, unique car displays, live band and a charity auction.
Tickets are $175 per person with a special $150 price available until April 15. Details
 
{br} Historic Races at BeaveRun  - Weekend July 17/18
Come out with your Corvette all weekend. There will be a special display area to park your Vette and watch the races. Several Corvettes will be competing in the races.
There is no cost to park in Corvette show, just pay the $15 per person/per day entry fee at front gate. Details
{autocross vette} Auto-Cross at BeaveRun  - Weekend July 17/18
Compete with your Corvette during the PVGP Historic Races at BeaveRun. Test your driving skills against other Corvette drivers as well as other entrants. Event is 2-days and includes dinner Saturday night.
Cost is $75 for the weekend and covers front gate entrance fee both days for you and a guest. Details
{walst} Walnut Street Invitational Car Show  - Monday July 19
Only 125 cars get a special invitation to be part of this show. There will be a select group of Corvettes on display so come on down to the show and do some shopping in Shadyside.
There is no cost to come see the show Details
 
{Cruise} Waterfront Car Cruise - Tuesday July 20
Come on down to the Waterfront in Homestead and join 800 other cars from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. An entire parking area will be set aside just for Corvettes. Featuring a live band, food booth and souvenir stands.
$5 donation is requested at gate Details
{downtown} Downtown Parade - Wednesday July 21
Join the parade from Heinz Field through Pittsburgh. Cars stage at Heinz Field begiming at 9:30 and depart at 10:30 for a parade across the Clemente Bridge and into town. After the Police escorted parade you will display your car at one of the three display areas.

{mktsq} Downtown Car Displays - Wednesday July 21
The PVGP will set-up car displays at USX Plaza, Market Square and PPG Place from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Come early and take part in the parade through the streets of Pittsburgh.

{bn} Tune-Up at Bossa Nova - Wednesday July 21
The last event before our Schenley Park Race Weekend is a great party on 7th Street downtown. Featuring dozens of race cars, there promises to be several Corvette race cars. Come on down and enjoy and evening of music, auctions and drinks before the big weekend.
Cost is $30 per person and includes two complimentary drinks Details
{schenley} Schenley Park Car Show - Weekend July 24/25
On the July 24/25 weekend the third fairway of the Bob O'Conner Golf Course at Schenley Park will be the new location for Corvettes in 2010. This is a much more visible area along Schenley Drive at the entrance to the car shows. There will be room to accommodate hundreds of Corvettes and an opportunity to take a parade lap on Sunday.
Cost is $25 to park for the weekend plus a $10 donation to take Sunday parade lap. (no discount for single day participants) Details

The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix remains our country's largest vintage race event and the only one run on actual city streets.
